Abstract:
Polymers with 50-100 wt% repeat units derived from ester(s) (I) of linear or branched 7-30C alkanols with unsaturated carboxylic acids, comprise star-shaped polymers (SSP) with 3-21 arms, at least three of which contain at least 40 wt% of units derived from (I) (based on the weight of the arm). Polymers with 50-100 wt% of repeat units derived from unsaturated ester(s) of formula R 2>R 3>C=C(R)-COOR 1> (I), comprise star-shaped polymers (SSP) with 3-21 arms, at least three of which contain at least 40 wt% (based on the weight of the arm) of repeat units derived from (I), in which R : H or methyl; R 1>linear or branched 7-30C alkyl; R 2>, R 3>H or -COOR'; R' : H or 7-30C alkyl . Independent claims are included for (1) a method for the production of SSP by controlled polymerisation starting from a multi-functional initiator (2) oil formulations containing SSP .
