Abstract:

To provide a new oil-soluble polymeric compound having both of adhesive property to the skin and film forming property, and an external preparation for the skin or cosmetics combined with the compound and showing excellent long acting property.

The oil-soluble polymeric compound which is insoluble in water or a water-ethanol solution and soluble or swellable in any one of isopropyl alcohol, toluene and ethyl acetate is provided by introducing a polymerizable group into pyroglutamic acid to thereby convert the pyroglutamic acid to a polymerizable monomer, and copolymerizing this polymerizable monomer with another polymerizable monomer.
