PURPOSE: To provide threded joints for oil well pipes which provide similar airtightness whether used at ordinary or high temperatures and are adapted to prevent brittle fractures.

CONSTITUTION: A threded joint comprises a pin 2 having male screws and subsequent screwless tip parts on the pipe outer surface and a box 1 having female screws and screwless parts which correspond to the screwless tip parts on the pipe inner surface. A surface treatment layer of a material whose melting point is higher than the operating temperature and an overlying surface treatment layer whose melting point is lower than the operating temperature are provided on the surface of the pin 2 or box 1. This constitution ensures that a metal sealing part 4 is airtight at high temperatures and prevents the strength of the joint from being reduced due to LME(Liquid Metal Embrittlement).
