PURPOSE: A chocolate or cake coated with the chocolate, prepared by printing the surface of an oily cake with an aqueous ink by the mimeographing, and having a beautiful pattern imparted thereto.

CONSTITUTION: An oily cake, printed with a pattern, and obtained by preparing an aqueous ink consisting of 5W15% one or more alcohols, consisting of propanol, glycerol and ethanol, and usable for food, 5W20% water, 30W75% pigment and optionally a sugar, dyestuff, emulsifying agent or stabilizer as an assistant, preparing an oily cake material, consisting of a chocolate and a cake coated with the chocolate, and having a flat surface, adjusting the viscosity at 40°C material temperature to 5W150 poises to make the surface of the oily cake material flat, flattening the surface thereof by scraping, printing the surface of the oily cake material with the above-mentioned aqueous ink by the mimeographing, air- drying the oily cake material under cooling at 5W20°C, and fixing the ink on the surface of the oily cake material.
