PURPOSE: To obtain an oily coating composition which is excellent in dryness, corrosion resistance, water resistance, etc., by using as a vehicle component a mixture of a natural dry oil, a cyclopentadiene resin, and a phenolic resin.
CONSTITUTION: Approx. 30W80pts.wt. a natural dry oil (e.g., linseed oil) or its processed oil (e.g., stand oil), approx. 20W70pts.wt. a cylopentadiene resin having a softening point of 60W130°C, and approx. 3W60pts.wt. a phenolic resin (e.g., Beckacite 1,100 made by Dainippon Ink Co.) are compounded. Then, the mixture is diluted with a solvent, and mixed a with drying agent to form an oily varnish or mixed with a pigment, a filler dispersant, a drying agent, etc., to form various types of enamels by the conventional methods.
