PURPOSE: To obtain an oily solid substance, excellent in strength and resistance to oil separation and capable of providing a cosmetic having a moderate strength and high stability and useful as further medicines, writing utensils such as crayon by blending a liquid oil, a solid oil, etc., with a specific polystyrene wax.
CONSTITUTION: The objective oily solid substance is obtained by charging an autoclave with dry cyclohexane, tetramethylethylenediamine and sec-butyl- lithium, introducing ethylene gas at 50°C under 2kg/cm2 pressure thereinto, carrying out the polymerization, then removing the ethylene gas, adding methanol, terminating the reaction, filtering the produced solid under reduced pressure, drying the solid, providing a branched polyethylene wax expressed by the formula (n is an integer of 30-300; (p), q and r are integers of 0-10, with the proviso that at least two of p, q and r are integers of ≥1) and subsequently blending the resultant branched polyethylene wax with a liquid oil and/or a solid oil. This oily solid substance is excellent in strength and resistance to oil separation and useful as cosmetics, medicines and writing utensils such as crayon.
