Abstract:

To provide various structures which reduce short circuit in an OLED display and an OLED device.

An OLED device includes: (a) a substrate; (b) a first electrode layer disposed over the substrate; (c) an inorganic short circuit reduction layer disposed over the first electrode layer; (d) a charge injection layer disposed over the inorganic short circuit reduction layer; (e) an organic EL element disposed over the charge injection layer; and (f) a second electrode layer disposed over the organic EL element. The short circuit reduction layer is selected to have a thickness and resistivity sufficient to reduce a leakage current due to short circuit and the associated loss of luminous efficiency.
