Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject catalyst having excellent polymerization activity and giving a polymer having broad molecular weight distribution and excellent moldability by supporting a specific transition metal compound and an organic aluminumoxy compound on a solid titanium catalyst component consisting of Ti, Mg and a halogen. CONSTITUTION:The objective catalyst is composed of (A) a solid titanium catalyst component containing Ti, Mg and a halogen as essential components, (B) a transition metal compound containing a ligand having a cycloalkadienyl skeleton [e.g. bis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium monochloride monohydride] and (C) an organic aluminumoxy compound (e.g. aluminoxane) supported on the component A. The catalyst may be further compounded with (D) an organic aluminum compound. An olefin is (co)polymerized by the use of the catalyst.
