To obtain a (co)polymer having a high bulk density while greatly reducing the production cost by conducting the (co)polymn. in the presence of a (co)polymn. catalyst prepd. by reacting a magnesium compd., a transition metal compd., and an inner electron donor.
A soln. prepd. by dissolving a magnesium compd. (e.g. magnesium chloride) into a solvent mixture comprising a cyclic ether (e.g. tetrahydrofuran) and an alcohol (e.g. butanol) is reacted with a transition metal compd. (e.g. titanium tetrachloride) to form a solid precipitate. The precipitate is reacted with a transition metal compd. (e.g. titanium tetrachloride) and an inner electron donor (e.g. diisobutyl phthalate) and then is washed with a hydrocarbon solvent (e.g. hexane) to given a titanium catalyst comprising a solid complex. The titanium catalyst is compounded with an organometallic compd. (e.g. a trialkylaluminum) and an organosilicon compd. (e.g. an arom. silane) as the outer electron donor, thus giving a catalyst system.
