Title:
OLEFINIC RESIN AND TONER USING THE SAME AND USER FOR ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3960661
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject resin maintaining a low melting point necessary for low temperature adhesivity, capable of improving compatibility and resin strength, and useful for toners for electrophotography by crosslinking the maleic acid compound constituting the olefinic resin with a polyol component.
SOLUTION: This olefinic resin comprises a copolymer of (A) an α-olein with (B) maleic anhydride or a maleic acid ester [e.g. a copolymer comprising (A') structural units of formula I (R is H or a 1-20C alkyl) and (B') structural units of formula II or III [R' is a 1-10C alkoxy) in an A':B' ratio of 20:80 to 80:20 and having an endothermic peak temperature of 60-120°C on measurement using a differential scanning calorimeter], wherein the component B is crosslinked with (C) a diol or higher polyol component (e.g. a 12-50C long chain aliphatic diol, a polyoxyalkylene glycol having a mol.wt. of 200-10,000). The resin preferably contains the component C in an amount of 5-100 mol.% based on the component B.
