PURPOSE: To obtain a copolymer giving a coating compsn. having long pot life obtd. by copolymerizing an olefinic unsaturated compd. having a isocyanate group bonded to a tertiary carbon atom and an olefinic unsaturated monomer not containing an isocyanate group.
CONSTITUTION: An olefinic unsaturated compd. with a mol.wt. of 252-800 containing an isocyanate part bonded to tertiary C forming 7-24 wt.% of a urethane part and a part of 5-17% of an alicyclic ring and an olefinic unsaturated monomer having an isocyanate group are copolymerized in a radical initiation manner in such an amt. that an obtd. copolymer has at least two NCO functional groups on an average and contains 0.1-13% of the isocyanate group bonded to the tertiary C to obtain a copolymer with a wt. average mol.wt. of 1000-100000, especially, 2000-50000. This copolymer and a sealing amino group- containing polyamine are compounded to prepare a coating compsn. or seal compd. cured by the effect of humidity.
