Abstract:

To provide a method for analyzing and fractionating agar polysaccharides, an oligosaccharification method of polysaccharides in agar or agar fractionated matter, and an oligosaccharide composition having antitumor activity originating from agar.

The agar polysaccharide analyzing method (1) for performing the electrophoresis of agar or its fractionated matter at a temperature for holding a dissolved state using a cellulose acetate membrane or filter paper, the agar polysaccharide fractionating method (2) for passing an aqueous agar solution through an anion exchange resin at a temperature for holding an agar dissolved state, holding the anion exchange resin at a temperature for holding the agar dissolved state and successively using water and an aqueous inorganic salt solution to perform elution while enhancing the concentration of the organic salt of the aqueous inorganic salt solution, the oligosaccharification method (3) of the polysaccharides in agar or its fractionated matter for preparing an aqueous solution with a normality of 0.001-0.2 N from an aqueous solution of agar or its fractionated matter to hold the temperature thereof to 60-105°C and performing the hydrolysis of the polysaccharides and the oligosaccharide composition (4) showing antitumor activity obtained by hydrolyzing the specific agar fraction, which is fractionated by the agar oligosaccharide fractionating method, by the oligosaccharification method are disclosed.
