PURPOSE: To obtain the subject novel saccharide sulfide deriv. which has a mono-, di- or sulfate trisaccharide residue bonded to an equatorial direction or quasi-equatorial direction and is useful for the treatment or prevention, etc., of arteriosclerotic diseases.
CONSTITUTION: A syrup-like deca-O-benzyl-D-maltotriose derived from allyldeca- O-acethyl-β-D-maltrioside is made into β-D-maltriosylfluoride, which is then brought into reaction with 2,2',3,3',6'-penta-O-benzyl-4,6-O-benzylidene-α,α-D trehalose and is thereafter hydrolyzed in the presence of Pd, followed by the treatment with an SO3-trimethylamine complex, by which the compd. of the formula [R is H, SO3M (M is cation); R' is the up to sulfated trisaccharide residue bonded to an equatorial direction, etc., R" is the up to sulfated disaccharide resue] [e.g.; 4-O-(α-D-malotriosyl)-α,α-trehalose, etc.] is obtd.
