Title:
OMNIDIRECTIONAL SENSOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3168067
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To correctly detect the direction of a force acting on an object.
CONSTITUTION: A mirror face ball 2 is movably sealed in a spherical container 1. The inner wall of the container 1 does not reflect light, and the outer surface of the mirror face ball 2 reflects light. A plurality of sets of optical means are provided at the inner wall surface of the spherical container 1. Each set of the optical means is comprised of a light emitting element S and at least three light detecting elements R1, R2, R3 spaced the same distance from the light emitting element S and from each other. Since the light emitting and light detecting elements are not oriented, the light without orientation from the light emitting element S reflected at the mirror face ball 2 enters the light detecting elements from any direction. The optical path length is operated from the amount of the incident light upon the respective light detecting element, thereby to calculate the distance to the mirror face ball 2. Accordingly, the acting force in any direction can be always detected with high reliability easily without being influenced by temperatures, humidities and the change with time.
