To provide an onboard imaging and display device in which a camera image is prevented from being switched and displayed on a display in reaction to a white line or the like on a road while not required, and the camera image is switched and displayed on the display if required.
The device mounted on a vehicle includes an imaging means 5 for imaging the outer field of the vehicle and a display means 2 for displaying an image taken by the imaging means 5. The display means 2 displays the taken image of the imaging means 5 when a vehicle speed is equal to or lower than a predetermined speed. The device further includes a straight line detecting means 31 for detecting a linear component from the taken image of the imaging means 5, a means 31 for determining whether a length of the linear component detected by the straight line detecting means 31 is equal to or longer than a predetermined length or not and a means 31 for determining whether an angle of the linear component to the vehicle is equal to or greater than a predetermined angle when it is detected that the length is equal to or longer than the predetermined length, and when it is determined that the angle is equal to or greater than the predetermined angle, the display means 2 displays the captured image of the imaging means 5.
