To provide a one-component developing method excellent in charge stability and not causing a sleeve filming or photoreceptor fog by repeated copying processes not only in a low speed region but in a high speed region.
In this one-component developing method, a one-component developer is passed through between a developer carrying body and a developer regulating member disposed in contact with the carrying body so as to charge the toner, and an electrostatic latent image formed on an electrostatic latent image carrying body is developed with the charged toner. The toner has 4 to 10 μm weight average particle size (d50), ≥0.950 average circular degree and ≤0.040 standard deviation of the circular degree, and more preferably, it has specified surface state D/d50 and a specified ratio d50/Ra of the weight average particle size (d50) of the toner to the surface roughness (Ra) of the developer carrying body.
