Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a polymerizable dental material based on a waxy polymerizable substance.
SOLUTION: This dental material based on a polymerizable wax comprises (a) 0-70wt.% of at least one polymerizable monomer and/or oligomer, (b) 0.1-5wt.% of at least one polymerization initiator, (c) 0-60wt.% of one or plural kinds of fillers and (d) at least 20wt.% of a waxy polymerizable substance. The dental material can be kneaded at ambient temperature and molded in an unpolymerized state without further heating as opposed to a conventional wax. The waxy ingredient is incorporated into the polymer through covalent bonds at the time of the polymerization. The dental material is suitable for manufacturing a temporary and a permanent dental prostheses.
