Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open deck type cylinder block which can secure circularity of a cylinder bore.SOLUTION: An open deck type cylinder block 1 includes a cylinder bore 12, and a water jacket 14 provided around the cylinder bore 12 and opened to a deck surface 10u on which a cylinder head is arranged. A wall 50 between the cylinder bore 12 and the water jacket 14 includes: a thick portion 52 which has a cylinder liner 20 forming an inner surface of the cylinder bore 12, and is thick; and a thin portion 54 which is positioned on the deck surface 10u side compared to the thick portion 52, has a cylinder block body 10 forming the inner surface of the cylinder bore 12, and is thinner than the thick portion 52.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
