Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a clutch device with a cam mechanism producing no dragging loss when the cam mechanism is changed over from the working engagement condition to be release condition.
CONSTITUTION: A piston 1 is formed in the inner surface 1a side with a cam groove 1c and a recess 1d, and a pressure plate 3 is formed in the inner surface 3a side with a cam groove 3c and a lug 3d extending to the recess 1d to sandwich a cam roller 2 supported loosely by a roller cage 4. When oil pressure is applied from the back surface of the piston 1 while a C3 clutch disk 5 preceeding the piston 1 rotates relatively the piston 1, the cam mechanism works to engage the piston 1. When oil pressure is withdrawn while the C3 clutch disk 5 rotates relatively the piston 1 to move so as to be late behind the piston, the engagement is released. Also, the cam roller 2 is blocked from running on a cam member by the recess 1d and lug 3d.
