To surely hold a page opened state of a book, and at the same time, facilitate the turning of pages by a method wherein a holding utensil being constituted in such a manner that the back face of a book is gripped by a gripping part, and the back face surface is held in parallel on the upper surface of a desk or the like, is provided.
As long as the back face surface of a book is held in parallel with the surface of a desk or the like on which the book is placed, even the first page of the book can be held under a page opened state. For this reason, a utensil in order to hold the back face surface of a book in parallel with a table such as a desk is provided, and the utensil is constituted of a back face gripping part 7 to grip the back face part of a book, a screw 8 in order to change the interval of the gripping part in response to the thickness of the back face of the book, and a leg 9 to prevent the back face gripping part 7 from falling down by the weight of the book. Also, in order to prevent the book from being removed from the gripping part 7, a surface treatment to suppress a slipping is applied on the internal side of the back face gripping part 7, and the gripping part 7 is formed of a material which is hard to slip.
