To provide an opening and closing mechanism for apparatus in which operability is enhanced by combining a slide mechanism and a hinge mechanism.
The opening and closing mechanism for apparatus comprises a slide mechanism which connects a first case and a second case slidably to cause transition of the positional state of the first and second cases between a closed state and an open state, and a hinge mechanism which connects the first and second cases rotatably. The slide mechanism consists of a first holder fixed to the first case, a second holder fixed to the second case and supporting the first holder movably in the slide direction, and an elastic member having one end secured to the first holder and the other end secured to the second holder and elongates or contracts according to the movement while sliding. The elastic member contracts most in the middle state of the sliding of the first and second cases, and the amount of elongation in the closed state is smaller than that in the open state. The hinge mechanism can function when the first and second cases are in open state.
