To prevent water from penetrating into the cut end part of the inside of a curl part further effectively in a metal can in which at least the vicinity of the opening of the can is formed of a metal plate, both surface of which is covered with a layer of a thermoplastic resin, and an outwardly curled part is formed on the opening of the can.
The outwardly curled part 21 is formed in a crushed state in the width direction so that the cut end 21a is wound into the inside of the curled part 21 to be shut in and the metal plate is piled at least threefold or more and the metal plates almost come in contact to each other via the resin layer in a large part of the curled part 21 except the vicinity of the top and bottom both ends and further the contact parts of the metal plates are adhered with thermoplastic resin layers, fusion-bonded each other, at least on the outside face of the curled part of the metal plate where the cut end part 21a exists.
