Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rock wool composite material useful as a rock wool heat-insulating material having a low bulk density by mixing rock wool granular fibers with fibers having a lower bulk density than that of the rock wool granular fibers and subsequently subjecting the mixture to an opening treatment.
SOLUTION: 100 pts.wt. of rock wool granular fibers and 50-60 pts.wt. of fibers, such as rock wool felt or glass wool, having a bulk density of 1/5 to 4/5 based on that of the rock wool granular fibers are mixed with each other, and subsequently subjected to an opening treatment using a dry biaxial opening device provided with a high speed rotation opening shaft and a stirring rotation shaft to produce the rock wool composite material.
