Abstract:

PURPOSE: To continuously obtain the subject high-quality polymer with hardly any foreign materials by prepolymerizing a polyfunctional polymer compound with a polyfunctional organic isocyanate in two stages of dynamic and static stirring, preparing a prepolymer and then reacting the resultant product with a polyfunctional low-molecular compound in an extruder.
CONSTITUTION: A prepolymer is obtained by carrying out a reactional step in the first stage comprising the operation to make (A) a polyfunctional polymer compound, containing active hydrogen atom in the molecule and having ≥500 molecular weight react with (B) a polyfunctional isocyanate under conditions of stirring with dynamic stirring blades until 20-90mol% active hydrogen atom is consumed and obtain a reactional mixture and performing a reactional step in the second stage comprising the operation to allow the resultant reactional mixture to react under kneading conditions with a static stirrer until ≥10mol% active hydrogen is consumed and the residual ratio of the active hydrogen attains ≤40mol% and thereby produce the prepolymer. The prepared prepolymer is then made to react with (C) a polyfunctional low-molecular compound, containing active hydrogen atom in the molecule and having <500 molecular weight to continuously afford the objective thermoplastic polyurethane.
