PURPOSE: To reduce the operating force of an operation lever by an assist means and thereby to realize a compact size of the operation lever, by providing an assist means to reduce the operating force of the operation lever to an automatic transmission operating device.

CONSTITUTION: When an operation lever 4 is turned in the direction of the arrow A from the neutral condition, a connecting member 6a at the operation lever side is displaced in the direction of the arrow C, and the second aperture 28b of an atmospheric communication passage and a second communication passage 32b at the atmospheric side which have not been communicated to each other are communicated to each other. And a negative pressure source communication passage aperture 30a and a second communication passage 34b at the negative pressure source side which have been communicated to each other are not communicated to each other, making the first chamber 26a at a negative pressure and the second chamber 26b at the atmospheric pressure, and an assist force in the direction of the arrow C acts to a connecting member 6b at the automatic transmission side through a partition wall 24. And when the operation lever 4 is turned in the direction of the arrow B from the neutral condition, the first chamber 26a is made at the atmospheric pressure, and the second chamber 26b at a negative pressure, and the assist force in the direction of the arrow D acts to the connecting member 6b at the automatic transmission side through the partition wall 24.
