PURPOSE: To constitute a reliable operating device of simple constitution by allowing a selecting means to select driving power transmission to plural movable means which move to operation position and nonoperation positions selectively according to the reciprocation of a driving means.
CONSTITUTION: An operating means consists of a cam 150 which reciprocates by the power of a power motor 138 through a decelerating means 148, a cam follower 152, plural differential mechanisms which reciprocate selectively according to the movement of the cam follower 152, and plural selecting means which perform their selection, thereby switching a tape running means to respective modes. The cam 150 is formed in one body together with a final gear 156 constituting the decelerating means 148, and operates in one body together with the cam follower 152. Then, an electric controlling means puts them in reciprocal motion selectively between stop mode positions and forward mode positions. The bent part 158 of the cam follower 152 displaces an idler lever 126 clockwise in stop mode to place an idler, which rolls on the body of revolution of a reel turntable means 82, in a nonoperation state.
