PURPOSE: To manage a temperature of both end parts of a rolling material without using a heating device, by adjusting a position or a revolving speed of an axial roller, based on a detecting signal of a temperature sensor which has been installed on both end faces of a ring-shaped rolling material.
CONSTITUTION: A ring-shaped material W is rolled in the diameter direction by a king roller 1 and a mandrel roller 2, and also, inserted and pressed from the upper and lower directions by a pair of axial rollers 3, 3, the movement in the axial direction of the material W is suppressed, and also, rolling in the axial direction is executed. In case of said ring rolling, one piece or more of temperature sensors 4 are installed onto both end faces, respectively, of said material W. By said temperature sensor 4, a surface temperature of the material W is measured, and based on a detecting signal of its measured value, a position and/or a revolving speed of said axial roller 4 are adjusted. In this way, by varying a friction heating value of the axial roller 4, a temperature fall of the end part of the material is prevented without using a special heating device, and the material W is brought to a temperature management appropriately so as to be in a rollable temperature area.
