PURPOSE: To operate smoothly a sintering machine with a sintered ore cooler provided with an installation for recovering waste heat at low output without decreasing the quality of the sintered ore and the efficiency in recovering heat with said machine by moving the position of an igniting device in accordance with the sintering condition of the sintering ore.
CONSTITUTION: The sitering raw materials charged from hoppers 4, 5 into pallets 1 which are connected like an endless belt are transferred in the longitudinal direction of the sintering machine and are fired by an ingniting device 3. Wind is passed through the raw material layer by downward suction with an exhauster 10 by which the raw materials are sintered. The sintered ore is discharged to a cooler 6 where wind is passed through the sintered ore layer to cool said layer. The waste heat is recovered from the generated high-temp. hot wind by a heat exchanger such as a boiler 7. The red hot area at the section of the sintered layer is detected with an IR television camera 54 provided to a sintered ore discharger 11 to measure the sintering condition and the device 3 is moved from the position A to B or C in accordance with the measured value in the case of operation with low output.
