To provide an operating table which assists expansion of an operating surgeon's field of vision without forcing an unnatural posture on a patient.

The operating table is provided with a nearly horizontal back board which supports an upper part of the patient's body, a nearly horizontal leg board which supports a lower part of the patient's body, and a driving mechanism which elevates with a predetermined height higher than the leg board so as to warp the patient's chest while the back board is kept at nearly horizontal state. By letting the patient to take such a posture, a diaphragm is lowered downward and at the same time the back side of the diaphragm protrudes downward. As a result, upper abdominal organs such as a stomach, liver, etc., protrude under a rib bow, and the field of vision is remarkably improved. If the table is lifted at the pancreas part, the field of vision is also improved since the pancreas which is the organ in the back side protrudes to the abdomen side.
