To sanitarily perform operation control without taking much time and labor.
When an operation switch 12 is turned ON, operation is effected, a round cutter 2 is driven for rotation and reciprocated between a cut position where a feeder 5 is positioned facing the round cutter 2 and a feed position where the feeder is not positioned facing the round cutter. When the feeder 5 is returned to the feed position, a food set at the feeder 5 is fed by an amount equivalent to a cut thickness. When the feeder 5 reaches the cut position, a food tip protruded from the tip of the feeder 5 is cut by the round cutter 2. In a so formed food slicer, the operation switch 12 is of a non-contact type that a specified range of the periphery forms a detecting range and when a hand enters the detecting range 13, a contact is opened and closed. When a hand enters the detecting range 13, the food slicer is operated. A malfunction preventing piece 14 to partially cover the periphery of the detecting range 13 is provided, and an operation control device is provided to limit a direction in which a hand enters the detecting range 13.
