To start operation without lowering functions of heating and treating facilities, even after an abnormal condition occurs to stop the operation in the operation process of the facilities.

An operation control method after the abnormal stop of the heating and treating facilities provided with an indirect heating means (first heating furnace 11, second heating furnace 13) for heating materials to be treated, and an indirect heating source (air heating furnace 15) for supplying a heating medium to the heating means, and a gas combustion means (gas combustion furnace 18) for burning gas generated by the heating of the materials comprises the steps of driving, at first, the gas combustion means to preheat to a predetermined temperature, then, driving the indirect heating source to heat the indirect heating means to heat the materials to be treated remaining in the heating means and supplying the gas generated by the treatment to the gas combustion means to perform combustion treatment.
