PURPOSE: To restrain excessive noise and vibration which a passenger in an elevator car feels during the operating service of an elevator.

CONSTITUTION: A breakage detector 1 detects noise and vibration which is heard in an elevator car. A car position memory device 2 memorizes the position of a car which is in an abnormal condition felt in the car. A breakage detection controller 3 judges, from the detected excessive noise or vibration, if temporary stopping or decelerating running is required. An operation controller 4 conducts the operating control of the car based on the temporary stopping or decelerating running command from the breakage detection controller 3. Besides, a motor controller 5 rotatingly-controls the motor 6 of a traction machine based on a command from the operation controller 4.
