To provide an operation device for a vehicle preventing wrong input and enabling a driver to independently operate an operation member according to intention of the driver and a travel condition of a vehicle.
An electronic control unit 25 inputs rotation angles L, R of rotary operation members 13, 14 in step S11, judges whether an auxiliary rotary operation member is rotatingly operated or not in step S12, and judges whether a vehicle is traveling on an ascent road or not in step S13. Input from the auxiliary rotary operation member is permitted if the vehicle does not drive on the ascent road and conditions arbitrarily set by the driver are satisfied in step S14. On the other hand, stop prioritized control is stopped once and rotary operation of the auxiliary rotary operation member is made valid if the vehicle stops on the ascent road. Consequently, wrong input is prevented and rotary operation members 13, 14 can be operated according to the intention of the driver and the travel condition of the vehicle.
