To provide an operating method of a furnace, in which the perfect separation can be performed in the case of separating and recovering from electric furnace dust.
In the operating method of a solid reducing material filling layer type furnace having tuyeres in two stages at the upper and the lower stages and filling the carbon base solid reducing material, in the range set under the condition that the temperature at the front of the upper stage tuyere is ≥1500°C, the temperature T of the furnace top part is T≥730°C and the oxygen potential Po2 (atm) is ≤-48138/(T+273)+25.35, the zinc as high volatile metal, is made in the vapor state and simultaneously, fuel gas having very high calory is extracted. Then, the zinc vapor in the exhaust gas is recovered as slurry by wet-cooling. Since the iron as the other element is low valatile metal, the iron is melted and reduced in the furnace and stored on the furnace hearth part.
