PURPOSE: To reduce the communication cost and to effectively utilize communication equipments by combining explanation data on operation contents into an operation manual, sending it to a communication terminal at an operation manual request from the communication terminal, and sending transmission failure information in the case of a failure in transmission.

CONSTITUTION: An operator at the communication terminal sends the request for the operation manual to a facsimile mail device 1. An editing control part 23 analyzes data stored in a data storage part 19 at the request for the operation manual to judge the kind of the operation manual that the opposite-terminal operator requests and the skillfulness of the operator, reads the explanation data on operations in process steps required to realize the target function of the device 1 out of an instruction information storage device 21, and generates the operation manual on a manual buffer 14. Further, system information in a system storage part 22 is also incorporated, generated, and sent. If the transmission is in failure, the control part 23 reads transmission failure information explanation data out of the storage part 21 to generate and send the transmission failure information.
