To enhance system efficiency, aimplify a system, and reduce cost.
In this thermal excitation luminescent device 10, fuel F and combustion air A are supplied to an arc tube 1 and burned to emit light from the arc tube 1 by combustion heat. To emit light, heat reservoirs 2a, 2b are installed at the opposite ends of the arc tube 1, the fuel F and the combustion air A are alternately supplied from the opposite ends of the arc tube 1 and burned, combustion exhaust gas is exhausted through the heat reservoirs 2a, 2b, and the combustion air A is preheated by the heat reservoirs 2a, 2b.
