PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable receiving a thread end part of a needle thread wound up around a cross-wound package, reliably with energy saving even under hard operation conditions, by operating a suction nozzle of an operation part and another appropriate means synergistically.SOLUTION: In an operation part of a fiber machine for production of a cross-wound package, a suction nozzle which is capable of supplying a negative pressure and is supported in swingable way is provided, and a suction opening of a suction nozzle head is configured so as to be positioned in a region of the surface of a cross-wound package held rotatably in a package frame so as to receive a thread end part to be wound up around the cross-wound package. A shielding device 19A is provided in the operation part of the fiber machine, and the shielding device is arranged between the suction opening 18 of the suction nozzle and a contact roller 9 at the operation position of the suction nozzle 17 so as to inhibit inflow of air flowing toward the suction opening 18 for suction of air and along the lower surface of the suction nozzle 17.
