PURPOSE: To obtain the operation unit in which a remote control operating part can be mounted on a VTR main body so as to be attachable and detachable, and the consumption of the incorporated battery of the remote control operating part is reduced when the remote control operating part is mounted on the camcorder main body.

CONSTITUTION: This device is equipped with a VTR main body 1, and a remote control operating part 5 which can be mounted on the VTR main body 1 so as to be attachable and detachable, and the VTR main body 1 can be operated by the remote control operating part 5 even when the remote control operating part 5 is detached from the VTR main body 1, or mounted on the VTR main body 1. The remote control operating part 5 is equipped with a detecting switch 7 which is turned off when the remote control operating part 5 is mounted on the VTR main body 1, infrared ray light emitting diode 14, resistance 15 for limiting the currents of the diode 14, and resistance 17 for limiting the currents connected through the switch 7 with the resistance 15 in parallel. When the remote control operating part 5 is mounted on the VTR main body 1, a remote control output is reduced.
