Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the ophthalmic lens material having not only excellent UV absorptivity but excellent stain adhesion resistance and mechanical strength as well by using a specific fluorine-contained maleimide compd. as a indispensable component.
CONSTITUTION: This ophthalmic lens material consists essentially of the fluorine- contained maleimide compd. expressed by formula I. In the formula I, R1 and R2 may be respectively the same as or different from each other and denote hydrogen atom or methyl group; A denotes 1 to 8C perfluoroalkyl group or the group expressed by formula II; (m) denotes an integer from 0 to 3. In the formula II, R3 and R4 may be respectively the same as or different from each other and denote the group expressed by general formula:-(CH2)2-Cp+F2p+1 or hydrogen atom. In the general formula, (n) is an integer from 0 to 8; P denotes an integer from 1 to 8; R3 and R4 are not simultaneously hydrogen atoms. The amt. of the fluorine-contained maleimide compd. to be used is preferably 5 to 55 parts and, particularly, 10 to 50 parts per 100 parts total polymerized component of the ophthalmic lens material.
