PURPOSE: To provide the ophthalmic measuring instrument which can execute easily and in a short time an examination without imposing a burden on an examinee.

CONSTITUTION: The measuring instrument is provided with a variable power lens plate 22 having plural variable power lenses, and a diaphragm plate 23 having plural diaphragm openings for determining an appropriate eye ground illuminating range corresponding thereto, and lens selection of the variable lens plate 22 and diaphragm selection of the diaphragm plate 23 are interlocked by motors 24, 26. In such a way, the appropriate eye ground illuminating range can be set automatically, and light exceeding necessity comes not to be put into an eye to be examined, therefore, a burden of an examinee can be decreased, and also, a comlicated diaphragm adjustment is not required, and an examiner can execute alignment and an examination work by an easy operation.
