Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a quite new type actuator device utilizing optical fibers and simply constituted to be easily micronized without using any motor-driven mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: When a laser beam transmitted through a optical fiber from a light source 1 is emitted from an end face 23, fluid existing in a space 4 in a cap body 3 is heated by the laser beam to be subjected to thermal expansion. As a result, the micro-bellows 32 of the cap body is deformed by the thermal expansion force to make a tip end 33 move like a piston.
