As for the optical element and the optical arrangement, at least a spatially-resolved attenuating element 107 is arranged in an observation light path of the optical apparatus that generates an intermediate image in a plane examined in the eye, or a plane observed with the objective lens. The attenuating element 107 is spatially resolved so as to be switched into at least two clear states.
