Abstract:

To provide an optical apparatus using a double-groove diffraction grating controlling light such as laser from a coherent light source, coupling, dispersing, reflecting and delaying it in cooperation with a light transmissive substrate.

This optical apparatus employs a double-groove diffraction grating having periodic sets of TiO2 elements 14 and 16 on one or more surfaces 12 of an SiO2 substrate 10. First order components of incident polarized light 18 coupled into the substrate are reflected so as to propagate through the substrate to terminus points where they either change direction for further propagation or exit the substrate.
