Abstract:
PURPOSE:To remarkably improve the arithmetic speed and to miniaturize the optical arithmetic unit by providing an optical semiconductor device where optical switches are accumulated and arranged in a shape of an array at an input side of a bistable laser, and inputting outputting a data used for an arithmetic operation and reserving temporarily a data by the optical semiconductor device. CONSTITUTION:A photoelectronic converting element, an electrooptical converting element and a storage device in a conventional optical arithmetic unit are replaced with an optical semiconductor device where a bistable laser 9 and two laser switches 8, 10 are accumulated in one semiconductor device and arranged in an array. By taking such a means, a data is never converted to an electron in the course of arithmetic operation and fed back to the optical semiconductor device of a data output part from the optical semiconductor device of a data input part, and also, the data input part of high density can be formed. In such a way, the cause by which the miniaturization and high speed conversion of the optical arithmetic unit are limited can be eliminated.
