Abstract:
PURPOSE:To perform parallel optical arithmetic fast by providing differential optical switches, differential switch arrays, optical connecting means, and a means which supplies pulse electric power to the switch arrays while shifting its phase. CONSTITUTION:Two pnpn elements 14 which are nearly equal in switching voltage are connected in parallel and a common resistance 13 is connected in series to constitute the differential optical switch 17, and plural differential optical switch arrays 1 and 2 constituted by arraying differential optical switches 17 in two dimensions are arranged; and the optical connecting means 3 and 4 which guide light beams emitted by the respective differential optical switch arrays 1 and 2 to following differential optical switch arrays 2 and 1 are provided and the electric power from the pulse power source 12 is supplied to the differential optical switch arrays 1 and 2 while shifted in phase. Consequently, the parallel optical arithmetic is performed fast.
