To provide an optical article for infrared communication and a light receiving unit for infrared communication, capable of specifically largely transmitting only a wavelength range in an infrared communication band and visually showing white by scattering and reflecting light in a visible light region.
A scattering reflection layer 23 is formed by uniformly dispersing fine particles in transparent binder resin, where the fine particles has a refractive index different from that of the binder resin. Diameter D of a fine particle of a part of or the whole of the fine particles has size represented by following formula D<0.4*λ/π. D represents particle diameter and λ represents wavelength in an infrared communication band. The fine particles is allowed to scatter and reflect light in a visible light region to develop white color, and transmittance in a wavelength region of the infrared communication band is set to not less than 12%. The scattering reflection layer 23 is formed on an outer surface of a substrate 21 to fabricate a light receiving unit 15 for infrared communication.
