Title:
OPTICAL BIOSENSOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06265553
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an optical biosensor highly sensitive and specific to a material to be inspected by coating a TiO2 waveguide with an organic carrier layer represented by a specified formula.

CONSTITUTION: A coating is formed of an organic carrier layer for combining a receptor molecule, and the carrier layer forms a monomolecular layer represented by the formula. The molecule of the carrier layer is directly combined to a TiO2 waveguide, or indirectly combined through an intermediate layer. The group Y represents a spacer group, and the group Z represents hydroxyl, carboxyl, amine or methyl, alkyl or fluoroalkyl group. The receptor molecule is formed of, for example, a biologically identified molecule such as antibody, membrane receptor, or ssDNA sample, which is arranged two- dimensionally or three-dimensionally on the carrier layer, and immobilized with directivity or non-directivity. The thickness of the organic carrier layer having the receptor molecule combined thereto is not larger than the transmitting range of extinguishing field of a mode transmitted in the waveguide, and it is needed to have an optical uniformity to the transmitted light.
