To provide an optical circuit member in which grating couplers for optical path conversion are arranged in order to increase package density of optical elements and its manufacturing method.
In the optical circuit member, a plurality of optical waveguides 1101 to 1104 are provided in parallel, and optical path converting parts 1151 to 1154 each of which consists of a slant type index modulation type grating which is inclined to the propagation direction of light and which is provided in order to input external light into each optical waveguide; and optical path converting parts 1161 to 1164 each of which consists of a slant type index modulation type grating which is inclined to the propagation direction of the light and which is provided in order to output the light which is guided through each optical waveguide to the outside are provided and the optical circuit member is constituted so that side faces of the flat surface substrate of the optical circuit member from which a part of optical conversion parts input the light or output the light and side faces of the flat surface substrate from which remaining optical conversion parts input the light or output the light to the outside become opposite side faces mutually.
