Title:
OPTICAL COMMUNICATION MODULE STRUCTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05142451
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make the overall thickness very thin compared to that when a reflecting plate is stood and fixed perpendicularly to a substrate by fitting a light receiving part or light emitting part and an opposite-side bottom surface in parallel to the substrate, and providing a reflecting plate which bends an optical axis almost by 90 deg. at a position facing it. CONSTITUTION:A photodiode 2 for light reception as an optical element is fitted in parallel to the substrate 1. Namely, the light receiving part 2b of the base 2a of the photodiode 2 for receiving light and the bottom surface as its opposite-side surface are set parallel to the substrate 1 and the leg 2C is fitted by soldering to the substrate 1. Thus, the light receiving part or light emitting part of the optical element and the base bottom surface on the opposite side are fitted in parallel, so the reflecting plate provided opposite the light emission part or light receiving part of the optical element only needs to be wide enough to bend the optical axis almost by 90, so the height is therefore reducible and the module becomes short.
