Abstract:
PURPOSE: To carry a voice, data, and video channel, and to simultaneously transmit a basic digital signal and a multiple microwave carrier wave/sub-carrier wave by providing a means for generating a light beam and a means for intensely modulating it as a composite modulated signal. CONSTITUTION: In a hybrid light transmitter having a basic band digital signal source 10 and a microwave signal source 14, the output of the signal source 10 and an output through an attenuator 16 of the signal source 14 are connected by a hybrid coupler 12. Then, the output of the coupler 12 is connected through an attenuator 18 by a laser diode 20 as a composite modulated signal. Then, the diode 20 generates a light beam intensely modulated by a modulation signal from the coupler 12, and this modulated light beam is transmitted to one terminal part of an optical fiber 22. Thus, a voice, data, and video channel can be carried, and a basic digital signal and a multiple microwave carrier wave/ sub-carrier wave can be simultaneously transmitted. Then, information carrying capability can be improved.
